Breakfast on the Farm: William H. Buckley Farm in Ballston Spa
Every time I pass by William H. Buckley Farm on Saratoga Road I make a mental note to go check it out. A few weeks ago, my husband and I had time for a leisurely weekday breakfast, and pulled into their long driveway. It’s got great curb appeal, and it felt like we were encroaching on somebody’s property. We parked by the butcher shop and walked in. The interior of the cafe is very plain, but inviting. There are about six wooden tables with chairs. I definitely felt like I was eating on a farm. I could hear the chickens squawking in barn next door, as I ordered a the “Little Breakfast” which is one egg breakfast, choice of bacon or sausage, home-fries, and toast. The toast came with a small dollop of homemade sour cherry preserves. (I was too shy to ask for extra).
When breakfast is this fresh and good, it doesn’t need fancy plating or presentation. It was very satisfying. I have a rule about hash browns. I will only eat them if they are really good, and these were excellent, firm on the outside and moist and buttery on the inside. My husband devoured the egg with sausage. Besides the cafe which is open for breakfast and lunch, they sell a wide variety of organic meats.
Our server told us that the burgers are huge (almost half pound), and if we did come back for a Classic Buckley Burger in the future, to make sure we were hungry. I think we can manage that!
I would highly recommend William H. Buckley Farm cafe if you are looking for a high quality farm fresh breakfast in Ballston Spa, Saratoga County. The staff is very friendly and helpful too. Almost forgot to mention, good coffee as well! You can also sleep over and be guest here as they offer Farm Stays. I don’t think I’d want to check out!
